  • Liberty NightEye Wireless Sump Pump Alarm Buyers Guide & Review

    October 27, 2016

Pump Products is now stocking the Liberty NightEye pump alarm. Now you can have the comfort of knowing that your sump or sewage pump is under control and your home or basement is safe when you are not present. It represents a step forward for the pumping industry as it adapts to the proliferation of smart technology. Mobility, responsiveness, control, and connectivity are all cornerstone elements of NightEye technology. The ALM-P1-Eye comes equipped with a sensor float that can snap onto a discharge pipe.  The snap-on sensor is compact and can operate in a tight basin with little interference. The ALM-2-Eye comes equipped with a standard wide-angle float for sewage applications. Installation and startup is a straightforward process as well. The patented BlinkUp technology connects the NightEye to the wireless router of a home or building. The first step is to properly install the alarm system itself and connect it to a power source. Once the hardware is in place, the software component needs to be added. The NightEye Alarm NightEye operation requires downloading the Liberty smartphone app in the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and creating an account. There is no service or subscription fee for downloading the app, but standard data messaging rates may apply. Once you have created an account and selected your preferred wireless network, you can begin the Blinkup process. Simply select ”send Blinkup” and once the countdown screen appears, press your phone or tablet against the NightEye’s setup LED sensor. Once you receive confirmation that the process is complete (in the form of a green checkmark) you can test the system. In addition to monitoring the water level, the Nighteye also detects the status of a WiFi connection. NightEye enabled devices continuously communicate their status to the cloud and any interruption will send trigger a notification. Power outages and the temperature of a basement (important when winter comes and pipes start to freeze) can also be monitored. Sophisticated “smart monitoring” capabilities prevent extraneous nuisance notifications so that you will only receive the notices you deem relevant. Another critical feature is that the NightEye can include information and alerts for up to four different accounts. Meaning, you can have alerts sent to your plumber or contractor or even a neighbor that has a spare key. That gives you full coverage no matter the situation. Worry no more about groundwater overwhelming your sump pit and flooding your basement while you’re on vacation. If you move you can take the NightEye as it is easily transportable. If you're a nice, generous person you can also leave it with a new homeowner (make sure to remove the device from your account and clear the WiFi credentials). “This is just the first generation of what we see as the long life of the NightEye technology. On the residential side, it can be used in so many applications – vacation homes, multi-family units,” according to a Liberty sales rep. Liberty plans to increase innovation by integrating the NightEye into various other Liberty products. The NightEye smart technology is the wave of the future. Features NEMA 1 rated for indoor use only Works with iOS or Android compatible devices Compatible with most residential wireless networks Runs on 120 volts and features a 9 volt battery backup The NightEye will run up to 12 hours on the battery backup with the alarm active and up to 7 days in standby mode A variety of LED indicator lights. Super bright red LED alarm ring, green “power-on” LED, a low battery LED and a WiFi LED 86dB audible alarm, automatic reset and a low battery warning The snap sensor can fit with either 1-¼” or 1-½” pipe (Not recommended for sewage applications) TECHNICAL BROCHURES Liberty NightEye Technical Brochure INSTALLATION/OPERATION MANUALS Liberty NightEye Installation Manual PARTS LISTS  No repair parts list available QUICK START GUIDE Liberty NightEye Quick Start Guide IMAGES

  • Liberty XLE50 and XLE70 Series Explosion Proof Sewage Pumps Buyers Guide & Revie...

    October 3, 2016

$(document).ready(function(){ $("td").css("border", "1px solid black") }); The XLE series from Liberty are submersible, explosion-proof sewage pumps designed to operate in hazardous locations. As the name suggests, these pumps are built to withstand explosions, which in this case simply means a sudden reaction involving physical or chemical decay along with an increase in temperature, pressure, or both. Explosions occur when conditions in the air include a flammable substance, an oxidizer, and a source of ignition. All Liberty XLE pumps are built with a Class 30 heavy cast iron body. Impellers can come in cast iron or bronze. Each pump model features dual shaft seals and a probe-type seal fail sensor that detects if moisture penetrates the seal cavity. The seal fail sensor is dependent on and used in conjunction with ISS-Series simplex and ISD-Series duplex intrinsically safe panels. To size, the panels, be sure that the amp range of the panels matches the full load amp range of the pump. The panels should be installed away from the hazardous location - be sure to have a qualified electrician handle the installation. For more information on the Liberty XLE family of sewage pumps, visit pumpproducts.com or call us with any questions at 1-800-429-0800. A Brief Explanation of Hazardous Locations Hazardous locations are defined by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the National Electric Code (NEC) and are subdivided into various classes, divisions, groups, and zones. A 2017 edition of the NFPA 70 can be found at the organization’s official website. Both the XLE50 and XLE70 series pumps have the same hazardous location designations. Class 1, Division 1 Groups C and D Class I locations are those in which the air contains a high enough concentration of flammable gases or vapors that could produce an explosive situation. To be classified as “Class 1, Division 1” one of the following three conditions must be met: Ignitable concentrations of flammable gases or vapors may exist under normal operating conditions. Ignitable concentrations of these gases may exist frequently due to repair/maintenance operations or due to leakage. The breakdown of equipment or processes might release ignitable concentrations of these flammable gases and could also cause the simultaneous failure of electrical equipment. Groups C and D are specific subdivisions in which the pumps can operate. The subdivision classification is based on the flammable material in the air, the maximum experimental safe gap (MESG), and the minimum igniting current ratio (MIC). The MESG is a measurement expressed in millimeters of how easily a gas flame will pass through a gap bordered by heat-absorbing metal. The MIC ratio is the ratio derived by taking the minimum current required from an inductive spark discharge to ignite the most easily ignitable mixture of a gas or vapor and dividing that number by the minimum current required from an inductive spark discharge to ignite methane under the same test conditions. Group C: Flammable gas, flammable liquid-produced vapor or combustible liquid-produced vapor mixed with air that may burn or explode, having either a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) value greater than or equal to 0.45mm or less than 0.75mm, or minimum igniting current ratio (MIC ratio) greater than 0.40 and less than or equal to 0.80. Example: Ethylene. Group D: Flammable gas, flammable liquid-produced vapor, or combustible liquid-produced vapor mixed with air that may burn or explode, having either a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) value greater than or equal to 0.75mm, or minimum igniting current ratio (MIC ratio) greater than 0.80. Example: Propane. Class 1, Zone 1 Groups IIA and IIB Class 1, Zone 1 locations are designated when the location meets the criteria for one of the following: Ignitable concentrations of flammable gases or vapors are likely to exist under normal operating conditions. Ignitable concentrations of flammable gases or vapors may exist frequently due to repair/maintenance operations or due to leakage. Equipment is operated or processes are carried out in such a way that equipment breakdown or faulty operations could result in the release of ignitable concentrations of flammable gases or vapors and also cause the simultaneous failure of electrical equipment in a manner that would case the equipment to become a source of ignition. A location adjacent to a Class 1, Zone 0 location (where gases are present continuously or for long periods) from which ignitable concentrations of vapors could be communicated. If the communication is prevented by positive-pressure ventilation from a clean air source and safeguards against ventilation failure are in place, such a location would not qualify as a Class 1, Zone 1 location. Group II is another subdivision classification based on the flammable material in the air, the maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) and the minimum igniting current ratio (MIC). Group IIA Flammable gases or vapors: Propane, acetone, benzene, butane, methane, petrol, paint solvents MESG: >0.9 mm MIC: >0.8 Group IIB Flammable gases or vapors: Ethylene, propylene oxide, ethylene oxide, butadiene, cyclopropane, ethyl ether.
