  • Zoeller Grinder Pumps Grind Up the Competition

    April 1, 2020

No one likes clogged pipes or broken sewage systems. That's why grinder pumps are necessary for some homes and businesses. Besides having the coolest sounding nicknames (like the Shark series we're going to look at), grinder pumps also have the most fun videos to watch. Thank you Zoeller for that video. I can watch that over and over. You might be asking, "what's the difference though between a grinder pump and a sewage pump" The main difference between the two is the type and size of solids that can pass through the pump. Sewage pumps can pass up to 2” solids that are generally considered "softer". Not trying to be gross here but I think you get what I mean. Grinder pumps are designed to deal with harder and thicker solids. These larger solids would clog a sewage pump, which would inevitably to lead to damage and headaches. Grinder pumps are able to handle these more difficult solids because they incorporate a cutting mechanism that macerates (grinds/chops) the solids into a fine slurry. This slurry can also be pumped higher than the solids from sewage pumps. Grinder Pumps are often installed in a pressure sewer system using small-diameter pipes, typically 1-1/4 inch to 2 inches. They are generally housed in a sewage basin and collect the sewage from wastewater discharged from bathrooms. Wastewater and slurry is then pumped to a city sewer main or directly to a septic pump system on the property. Whether you're replacing an old pump or just looking for a brand new one, one name stands out above the rest, Zoeller. Zoeller grinder pumps are known for their sturdy construction, long services lives and fine cutting ability. The Zoeller 800 Series (or The Shark Series) is one of Zoeller's more well known and relied upon line of grinder pumps. These pumps are light, efficient models used in residential systems. They can handle typical household waste solids such as sanitary products and handwipes. Some models include the “Tri-Slice” cutter technology with three independent cutting channels that provides over 250,000 cuts per minute. Not even Guy Fieri's knife skills are that fast. The hardened stainless steel Tri-Slice cutter provides scissor action style cutting that helps eliminate binding and roping of material around the cutter. The Shark Series is constructed of corrosion-resistant cast iron with a powder coated epoxy finish and stainless steel hardware. The thermally protected, oil-filled motors and external cooling fins allow the pumps to run cooler. This series is available in single phase and three phase configurations. Let's take a brief look at one of the most popular Shark models: the Zoeller Model M803. Zoeller Model M803 This model is a 1/2 HP submersible, grinder pump for difficult residential sewage applications where ejectors struggle. The M803 is capable of handling almost any "flushable" material you can find in your entire house. This pump has a maximum flow of 35 GPM, 35' of max head, and has a 1-1/4" NPT vertical discharge. The M803 runs at 115 volts and is single phase. Was the shark in Jaws inspired by this pump Was it maybe the other way around I'll let you decide. Features Oil filled for optimal heat dissipation Cast iron construction 1-1/4" NPT vertical discharge Engineered plastic, non-clogging, vortex impeller Proven Tri-Slice cutter technology - three independent cutting channels provide over 250,000 cuts per minute Stainless steel cutter and plate 100% factory tested If you're in need of a brand new grinder pump, the Shark Series and the M803 is a good place to start looking. If this pump doesn't suit your needs however, fear not. Zoeller has an extensive product line of grinder pumps and grinder system packages. • Zoeller Sump Pumps: Reliability & Performance

    March 4, 2020

Picking the right sump pump for your home or business can be no easy task. We all look for some common denominators, such as performance and dependability. However when it comes to knowing which pump perfectly suits your needs, there are other factors to consider. For instance, the required TDH and GPM of your application. Much like how Harry Potter’s wand picked the wizard, sometimes the pumps pick us. OK maybe not the best metaphor but these Zoeller pumps are definitely suited for a plethora of applications. Every Zoeller pump comes trusted, tested, and tough straight out of the factory. This means if you see the Zoeller name on the side of a pump, consider it dependable. This week we're putting the spotlight on the Zoeller Model M98 and Zoeller Model M53 sump pumps. Let’s dive into why these models stand out over the competition. Sump pumps are integral for any home or business. The idea behind how they work and their purpose is pretty simple. The humble sump pump's task is to prevent basement flooding because water damage is no joke. Sump pumps work by kicking on when excess water is present, whether that’s groundwater or runoff from a heavy storm. Typically, a sump pump has an open basin under your basement floor, a drainage system, and the pump itself. When enough excess water rises in the basin, a switch kicks the pump on and begins the process of water drainage. The Zoeller M98 Sump Pump also known as the “Flow-Mate” is designed for use in residential or light commercial dewatering applications and can be used to transfer groundwater or effluent. This durable cast iron pump includes a powder coated tough epoxy finish to prevent corrosion and is designed to provide great heat dissipation from the motor.  Zoeller has included tons of features to ensure a long service life and keep your pump running trouble-free. As with every Zoeller pump, the Zoeller M98 Sump Pump is 100% pressure-tested, submerged, and run to ensure quality and reliability for years of trouble-free performance. This attention to detail is an inherent feature of every pump, making it one of the most reliable in the industry. This model also features carbon and ceramic shaft seals and no screens to clog. The maximum working temperature is 130° F Features & Benefits ½ HP 115 Volts 1 Phase 9.4 Amps 72 GPM Max 23 ft Max Head The Zoeller Sump Pump Model M53 is also one of our more popular models. This model features many of the same features as the M98, albeit with different specifications. Known as the “Mighty Mate”, this pump is also designed for use in residential or light commercial dewatering applications and can be used to transfer groundwater or effluent. The M53 is hermetically sealed to be watertight, dust-tight, and completely submersible. The motor is 60 Hz, 1550 RPM, oil filled, hermetically sealed, and is automatic reset thermal overload protected. This model features a non-clogging vortex impeller, a watertight neoprene ring between the motor and pump housing, and no sheet metal parts to rust or corrode. Features & Benefits 0.3 HP 115 Volts 1 Phase 9.7 Amps 43 GPM Max 19.25 ft Max Head When you’re looking for a new Zoeller Sump Pump, Zoeller Parts, or Zoeller Accessories to help prevent water damage, look no further than PumpProducts.com. We specialize in pumps, and we’re among the largest online dealers for Zoeller pumps, one of the world’s top pump brands. • 3 Ways a Sump Pump Benefits Your Home

    March 2, 2020

You probably rarely think about your home’s sump pump (or lack thereof), but it’s so important to proactively protect one of the largest investments you’ll ever make—your home. A sump pump is one easy way to do this. You certainly don’t want to wait to think about a pump when you’re dealing with major water damage! This article is to help you understand why you might want a sump pump and to do the shopping for one easy. First, we’ll take a quick look at the basics of sump pumps and how they work, and then we’ll dive into three benefits of having a quality sump pump, like a Zoeller sump pump, in your home. Finally, we’ll quickly look at one of the most popular models of industry-leading Zoeller pumps. The Basics: Why Does My Home Need a Sump Pump Sump pumps generally protect your home in three important ways. But before we dive into those, we will take a quick look at the basic functioning of a sump pump. How Do Sump Pumps Work Sump pumps work by kicking on when excess water is present, whether that’s groundwater or runoff from a heavy storm. Typically, a sump pump has an open basin under your basement floor, a drainage system, and the pump itself. When enough excess water rises in the basin, a switch kicks the pump on automatically to get rid of it. Three Ways a Sump Pump Protects Your Home Sump pumps (like the Zoeller Sump Pump M98 model that we’ll talk more about in a bit), are small but mighty machines. Three benefits of sump pumps are that they protect your home from: 1.      Flooding and Water Damage Sump pumps are engineered mainly to keep water out of your basement, which could ruin everything you have stored there. By removing excess water as it fills the pump basin, your home is safe from flooding and the major water damage that could result. 2.      Electrical Fires You might not think of flooding having anything to do with fires…it’s kind of counter-intuitive. But flooding is one of the primary causes of electrical fires in homes! Wires short out when they come into contact with water, sending dangerous sparks flying. A good sump pump will protect your home from electrical fires by removing the concern of flooding. 3.      Moisture, Mold, and Mildew Excess moisture causes mold and mildew. If your home’s basement is finished, it’s even more important to protect it from moisture. You probably have nice furnishings, insulation, and drywall to keep safe. But even if it’s not a finished basement, you don’t want your belongings or home exposed to damaging mold and mildew—these things can cause major damage to your things and even illness in your family! To save your home from these three issues, you’ll want to have a high-quality sump pump installed like a Zoeller pump. Zoeller Pumps and the Zoeller M98 Zoeller pumps (including Zoeller sump pumps like the Zoeller sump pump M98) are known as some of the best in the water transfer industry. April 25, 2019

Zoeller shallow well and convertible deep well jet pumps feature sturdy construction, corrosion resistance, easy serviceability, and excellent performance. Well pumps are used to deliver water from a well to a home that is not connected to a municipal water supply. They are also commonly used for small-scale irrigation and livestock watering. Well pumps are available in shallow, deep well convertible, and submersible designs. Jet well pumps are surface pumps configured above the well system, while a jet assembly system (twin pipe or Packer depending on the application) is inserted into the well shaft. The main components of a jet pump are a nozzle, venturi, and the jet itself. The pumps components work together to create a vacuum above the water, which allows atmospheric pressure underneath to push the water upwards. Jet pumps can be either horizontally or vertically configured and are much the same size and shape as other pumps.
