Zoeller shallow well and convertible deep well jet pumps feature sturdy construction, corrosion resistance, easy serviceability, and excellent performance. Well pumps are used to deliver water from a well to a home that is not connected to a municipal water supply. They are also commonly used for small-scale irrigation and livestock watering. Well pumps are available in shallow, deep well convertible, and submersible designs. Jet well pumps are surface pumps configured above the well system, while a jet assembly system (twin pipe or Packer depending on the application) is inserted into the well shaft. The main components of a jet pump are a nozzle, venturi, and the jet itself. The pumps components work together to create a vacuum above the water, which allows atmospheric pressure underneath to push the water upwards. Jet pumps can be either horizontally or vertically configured and are much the same size and shape as other pumps. Goulds J7S Shallow Well Pump Today I am highlighting the Goulds J7S Shallow Well Pump. This popular Jet Pump is our best-selling jet pump and is known for top notch construction, efficiency, versatility, and consistent performance. The Goulds J7S is built to draw water from a water table no more than 25 ft. underground. This pump can typically be found in homes, farms, and cottages, as well as in booster applications. Construction The defining feature of the Goulds J7S is the integral shallow well adapter that is built into the casing, removing the need for a separate shallow well adapter. This makes the pump compact and relatively easy to install. This Shallow Well Jet Pump is also easy to maintain. The motor is divided into two compartments for easy access to the wiring and replaceable components while a back pullout design allows the user to access the pump components without disturbing the surrounding piping. The engineered plastic tubing and fittings can also be easily removed for cleaning or examination. The pump case includes a nozzle clean out plug. The volute is cast iron with an electro-coated paint process that is applied to the interior and exterior and then baked on for corrosion resistance. The impeller is FDA compliant, glass filled Noryl and is both corrosion and abrasion resistant. The bolted down diffuser guide vane ensures positive alignment with the impeller. The mechanical seal's special diaphragm design retains water in the casing so the seal itself never runs dry. The Goulds J7S is powered for continuous operation and is self-priming after the initial prime. This basic pump package includes the close-coupled pump/motor, a AN018 nozzle, a AD3336 venturi, and a AS4 pressure switch. The pressure switch is preset to 30-50 PSI.
